No video with new graphics card

May 24, 2007 11:34AM PDT

I have an old ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard and the 9800pro AGP card I had in it burned out.
So I bought a Chaintech Geforce7600gs AGP card and when I put it in and booted up, there's no video.

The fan on the agp card works, I can here the windows startup music. But the monitor stays black.

The motherboard bios says its set to AGP8X, which is what the card supports. Is there an incompatability issue between the card and the motherboard im not aware of? What else could it be?

I'm pretty sure its not a defective card as I got it from newegg and its the second one they sent me, same issue.

Im running Windows XP home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No I will try that. I am not getting the BIOS screen...so I didn't think it could be a driver issue. I will try it and post.
