General discussion

no valid IP address

Mar 16, 2015 4:07AM PDT

This morning I was listening to music on amazon prime & all of a sudden I lost my internet connection! When I check my internet, it says there's a connection but it also says there's no valid IP address. If I go to network & sharing center & then go to adapter settings & click on view status, in IPv4 & IPv6, it says no internt access. As I understand it, that's where my cmputer's IP address is supposed to be. How can I find my IP address if it's not there?

Shortly before this happened I hadinstalled networx, a tool for monitoring downloads, I don't know if it caused the problem.

I'm using a toshiba laptop with windows7.

Thank you for any assistance.

There are thousands of folk asking WHY? on the web. Most just reboot the gear in the home and it comes back. If not, you call your ISP to fix it.

That's a NEW question.

Since that detail was missing you may have to get a kit for wifi from the front desk. I've used those over the years. It has some wifi thingy, ethernet cable to get wifi to laptops that didn't have such.

I contacted the front desk

I asked if they could reset the modem or supply me with a kit & they said no. But they asked their maintenance man to fix it. Now it's working fine!

Thanks again!
