General discussion

No upload, slow download

Mar 31, 2008 3:21AM PDT

PC: Pentium 4, XP Pro w/SP2, ASUS P5GPL-X MB w/Marvell Yukon adapter. Cable modem with Netgear router.

Constant problem with slow connection speed on our cable modem. Cable company has checked speed and it is normal. I run Network Magic test and it runs 3777 for download but cannot connect to test upload. We cannot send email of any size. I have moved our laptop to this wall plug and it uploads at about DSL speed.

So, I am thinking it is my PC but cannot figure out where the problem could be. I reloaded the driver for the Marvell Yukon and am now stuck for answers. What could it be?

I have run Panda virus check for any malware, virus, trojan horse, etc. Could there still be a bug there not detected? Would a reformat be extreme? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Something's missing.

Like how the connection is to the cable modem. Try disabling all wifi and an ethernet cable.

Somethings' missing
Mar 31, 2008 3:44AM PDT

The Netgear router I have is an ethernet and wireless. I have the PC plugged into it for the cable connection. There are other plugs throughtout the house where we can plug into to get a connection. We do not currently use wireless. I have also replaced the ethernet cables from the PC and laptop to the wall plug. In the past I have rebooted the PC, modem, and router but that did not help. Hope this fills in the missing info.

Thanks

Try it with the wifi disabled.

This will rule out a common issue.

Back to the manual?

I read your posts twice without finding the make and model of the wifi router so time to look in it's manual.
