NO system restore

by jam4201 / August 19, 2006 5:28 AM PDT

My daughter has windows 2000 and can not find any system restore on it. Is there no system restore on Win 2000? If not is there some way she can restore? I'm sorry to say I don't know anything about her pc. Thanks so much.

Microsoft in that era considered Windows 2000 to be a "Professional OS" which you would buy books about, take classes and be ready at a moment's notice to format the drive, install the OS, drivers and restore from backup.

I'm not kidding.

Thank Bob, I just finished reading the same thing in the 2000 forum. They did give suggestions but that sounds like something she would have no idea about and I don't feel like I want to even try to tackle it. Any other suggestions? Or should I just tell her to call someone. I could do a format but I'm not sure I could stuff back on. Thanks again.

Try a post in the 2000 Forum anyway.

While system restore is not possible, many issues can be cured without a wipeout. We also have other tricks like parallel installs and more, but without a problem to poke at...

I guess I'll go back over there and look through everything and see if there might be something I can understand. :o) Thanks Bob

This will not help your daughter now, but in the future, you might look into purchasing Norton Go Back. It's kinda like system restore, but much more detailed.

Phantazy, I went to that site and printed everything that was there. I will be going to my daughter tomorrow and will take it along. Thank you so much.
