In fixing mine, I put together this guide. Hope this helps
some other people out there, too.

Hi Guys,
I am the owner of a stylish Gigabeat F20...
However I seem to fiddle around with it more than that I am listening to it.
I was listening to my MP3 files (while jogging... maybe not such a good idea?) when the music suddenly stopped.
On the display it read "NO SYSTEM FOUND ON HDD" and an error code 00200060
I was only able to switch it of with the battery switch.
When I connected the Gigabeat to the Computer I could see the MP3 files just fine.
Since than I have both formatted the HDD via the Toshiba software and with Windows.
When I look on the I drive I don't see any hidden files... including with the option "display hidden system files"
When I transfer music files using the Gigabeat room software it does create the hidden folder "GBSYSTEM" and another hidden folder called "My Music" which is some kind of copy of the folder created called "My Music" in the root directory.
But further more there are no system files on it.
I formatted the drive before and it worked fine.
What to do??? How do I get these files on the HDD and firstly where do I get these files from? Or do I have to do something with the firmware?
Can anyone help me? I think I am sending this one back to Japan and have a SONY NW-HD3.
Cheers!
