I bought the Samsung BD-E5400 blu-ray player a while back. For some reason it took me a while to realize that I was not getting surround sound from DVDs or blu-ray discs when using this player. To make sure it wasn't a receiver issue, I made sure I got surround sound from the cable box. To make sure it wasn't a connection issue, I hooked up another blu-ray player using the same cable and connection to the receiver. In both cases the surround sound worked. When I am playing a disc and hit the audio button on the remote it says the audio is 5.1. It's long past the warranty date (not that I have the receipt), so do I need to replace it or is there something I can try to fix it?
