No spooler service?

I am trying to re-install my dell All in one printer A940. I get a message spooler service is stopped. Would anyone know how to fix this problem. can I fix this with my xp disk that came with my new pc.

CLICK ON START AND THEN ON RUN AND THEN TYE SERVICES.MSC AND THEN CLICK OK
THEN LOOK IN FOR PRINT SPOOLER SERVICE AND RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND THEN START IT
THIS SHOULD WORK

I did what you said and I get a message, "Could not start the Print Spooler service on local computer- Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start"

This link (Google) finds the fourth entry to claim a fix with a (safe according to what I know) registry edit.

found this fix on another forum,can't vouch for it though, he had exactly the same problem as you.

This fix contains information about modifying the registry. Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. In the registry go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler registry subkey and find an entry with the name DEPENDSonService. Backup this entry so you can restore it if other problems arise. After backing it up, delete the entry (value). Restart the machine and all should be well.

Operation could not be completed

I had the printer spooler problem and the services fixed it but i know get an "operation could not be completed" window and do not knwo what to do now. Thanks for the help.
