no speakers

I had to do a complete re-installation of win XP and now my speakers didnt seem to get installed. no speaker icon in the tray and I get the msg "no sound devices installed on this computer. How do you "install" speakers? thanks in advance

Microsoft doesn't do this for us. I'd offer more, but you didn't tell the make/model of the sound card.

You don't install speakers. You can however install a sound card. You should have a resourse CD that contains the drivers for your card. Check the device manager and see if you have a yellow mark next to your sound card. If so, the card is not working properly. You will need to install it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
