no sound/win 98

May 19, 2005 3:47AM PDT

like i dont have enough to fix- my sister has a windows 98 and it kept crashing- her son somehow ran the windows diska nd i guess that was a reinstall? well they were able to reinstall everything but sound- no multimedia , no sound.. they cant find the disk-weve reinstalled all the disks she had- no sound though. im thinking they can get the driver they need online somewhere- but not sure what brand or what part of the hardward in the tower to look for the name to find a driver-
in the device manager heres whats missing drivers
PCI Communications Device (modem?)
PCI ethernet controller
PCI multimedia audio device- i think this is the one she dont have the disk for....

there is a modem installed but this come was DSL -but not online for a few months... cause it was busted-lol.

this all has taught me something- keep the disks put up so you have them ALL.
so what hardware driver do i search for- i can get it at the manufacturers websites if i know what hardware to search for....
