Question

No sound out of my Cd Changer

I have a Vizio 55" HDTV which has a Vizio 5.1 Soundbar connected, I just bought a new 6 Disc Onkyo CD changer and no matter how many times I try different connections or different inputs, I can't get any sound out of the changer!
Does anyone out there have a suggestion?

Answer
Please supply detail.

1. Make, model of all devices (TV, Vizio, CD changer.)
2. Please supply your hookups.
3. A TV may be the wrong choice for this mix. But without all the model numbers, members can't offer hookup ideas.

No sound out of my Cd Changer

The TV is Vizio M55-C2, Vizio Soundbar S3851-C4, Onkyo DXC390 6 Disc CD Changer.

Re: CD changer

You didn't answer question 2 yet. Can you do that also?

Since you didn't share your hookups.

1. The soundbar was not found. I did find a S3851x-C4 so I'll use that.
2. https://www.onkyousa.com/product/hi-fi-components/cd-players/dx-c390/ tells us the CD player has optical, coaxial and analog output.

3. The simplest connection since there is no video and a TV may mute if there is no video is from the CD player to the sound bar.

4. Since you did not share your current connections I would start with an option link from the CD player to the sound bar since the soundbar came with that cable.

5. If you currently use the optical to the TV then I'd go get the coaxial cable for the CD player to sound bar connection.

6. As to operation I defer to product manuals. But I know we'll have to use the sound bar remote to select the input and volume and the CD player to tell it to play and possible select its output port.

7. The TV is not a factor here since the CD player has no video output.
