No Sound on new 32" LCD TV when running cable

by haid.10 / July 20, 2007 11:44 PM PDT

I have a new 32" Insignia NS-LCD 32 TV. The cable guys came yesterday and ran cable to my room and hooked my TV up to the cable box, a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300HD, and everything was working fine. I was trying to program the cable TV remote to work my TV and after a few incorrect tries finally got the correct code. However, as soon as I tried to program my remote to control the TV the sound cut out. I've checked all my connections twice and made sure neither the TV nor the cable box is muted. I've tried switching the component ports on the back of the TV. I've gone through and made sure SAP is off. I plugged in my video camera to see if the TV speakers were broken, but I had great sound, so I know it's not an issue with the speakers on the TV.

Any Ideas??

Sounds like it to me. . .

If you get sound without the box, the problem is with the box. Then again, have you checked the audio connections from the box to the TV. What are you using and where are they connected?

No sound on Insignia

I had the same exact problem on my new Insignial 22". I think there must be so incompatability with the box. What you need to do is go to the input source every time you turn it on and hit the right arrow key on the insignia remote. It is a real pain and makes no sense

Same problem on a Insignia 22"

I have the same problem on a Insignia 22" LCD. You need to reset the input source to component every time you turn on the TV. The video will come on when you turn on the TV but not the sound until you go into the meu and reset the source input to component as edellen suggested.

Do you know if this is a problem on the 27 inch. I ahve no idea about tvs or what i should be looking for. Is this sound problem only happen when you hook up a cable box like direct tv or something. or in general will you lack sound until you manually reprogram in via remote. thanks.

Reset the box
by Dan Filice / December 30, 2007 1:42 AM PST

Pull the power plug from the cable box and the wall and let it sit a couple of minutes. Then plug it back in and let it reboot. Don't power up the TV yet. The cable box should reboot and reset it's settings. Once the time shows up on the display, then power up your TV so the cable box can recognize the TV. It this doesn't work, you can always bring the cable box by the cable office and they will replace the box. I've needed to do this a few times over the last year.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
