Microsoft has their "way" about this. Try http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=dvrms&btnG=Google+Search and then run VLC PLAYER to see if that works.

I recorded a TV show on my computer using Windows Media Center. I can watch the show on that computer with no problem. I then used Media Center to burn that TV show to a DVD. When I now try to watch the DVD on another computer using Windows Media Player, the video works great but I get no audio at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Any clues?
