There's even the usual KNOPPIX mention I use to sort out if it's drivers or hardware.
I won't write about volume controls since you didn't post in the newbies forum.
A month or so ago the internal speakers of my Dell Inspiron 6000 stopped working, but I could still get sound out of the headphone jack, and since 90% of the time I used either third-party speakers or headphones and internal laptop speakers tend to annoy me, I didn't worry too much about it.
But tonight, I stopped getting sound from my headphone jack...this is not good.
The Dell site's only solution is to make sure my volume is turned up and since my hardware warranty is apparently expired it will cost me a $49 diagnostic fee just to talk to someone from Dell.
I'm guessing this is a hardware problem...sound card or something else I'm not even aware of. Any ideas?
