Question

No sound from DVD

Aug 2, 2016 2:00PM PDT

Hi,
I have Samsung HT5300 ZA Blu ray home theater hooked up to a Vizio TV. All appliances Cable, Apple TV , iPod are working. Even Audio CD in the blu ray player gets the sound but when I play a DVD only picture is appearing. Some times there is a continuous beep but no sound from the DVD , no dialogue or music.
The player is connected to TV via HDMI but as that is only for the picture I don't think that is the issue but I did change the cable to ensure that is not the issue.
I also tried flipping thru all the DP II sound types. Any help is welcome

Since hdmi is for sound also, it could be some setting. What route is the sound to follow from the disc to the speakers?

The sound should be from the player to the speakers because the player is part of the surround sound

Sounds like a product failure.

I take it the blu ray works so time to call Samsung and they should walk you through resets, firmware and more.

If that still fails, you have a good reason to return it for a working product.
