General discussion

No sound from computer speakers.

I've got an HP Pavilion dv-7 laptop. I just got a big screen t.v. and hooked up my laptop to it via HDMI. While this is plugged in I don't get any sound from my computer or ear phones. Is this normal? When I un-plug the HDMI it works fine. Is there a setting I can change so I don't have to un-plug the HDMI when I want to use the computer without the t.v.? Thanks in advance for any info.

Completely normal

Completely normal, since HDMI does video and audio. You'd have to manually change the default output device every time you wanted to override that. There's no automatic way of doing this that I'm aware of.
