NO SOUND

I HAVE JUST INSTALLED A LITEON DVD ROM DRIVE I ALSO HAVE A CD REWRITER WHICH IS THE MASTER AND THE DVD IS THE SLAVE I HAVE INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE DISC BUT WHEN I BOOT UP THE PC I AM GETTING DRIVE ERROR F1 RESUME F2 SET UP WHEN I PLAY A DVD THERE IS NO SOUND BUT I AM GETTING A PICTURE

Is the audio cable properly connected to the audio out terminal of the dvd drive, and connected on the other end to some input on the motherboard?

sorry I have sound when i play cds but not dvds

Have you checked if your DVD player software is muting the sound?
