No Sound

Please Help
Lost sound on computer. I have a Dell Optiplex GX270, Windows XP Home Edition 5.1 build 2600, Realtek AC97 Audio is the enabled, working correctly, default sound device. I tried updating, roll back & reinstalling driver, downloading driver from Realtek & Dell and system restore, still no sound at all. I ran DxDiag, Sound tab, Test Direct Sound, full accelaration, stereo, 8 bit, 22 Khz from a software buffer and ALCXWDM.SYS not digitally signed. All audio components are there but seems Windows does not recognize them. Can someone please tell what I'm doing wrong?
