I had to disable restore system a few days ago, not realizing then that it erases restore points ,which I now need. Any help on how to get an earlier restore point,without having to unistall & reinstall windows?

Microsoft didn't provide such functionality and no third party tool exists to reclaim restore points.
You didn't tell what OS, but some can use SCANREG /RESTORE

Once they're gone, they're gone. Why though, did you "have" to disable the restore system? You shouldn't ever "need" to disable the feature. I have seen posts in other discussions where a person has been told they have to disable System Restore when they scan for viruses and such, but that is not true. I don't know of any time when you should ever disable it because many times it is the only way you have of correcting a problem or mistake. That is, without paying a tech to fix it for you.
System Restore files are protected Window system files.
Anit-virus, spy-ware scanners cannot modify these files.
Doing a System Restore with these files will re-infect your system.
To restore operating system files run SFC /NOW (system file checker)in command window (DOS). Applications may have to be un-installed and re-installed.
