Question

No registered programs...

Dec 26, 2014 5:32PM PST

Hello all,
Thanks for all previous assistance, however, I think I did something wrong when I went to the Revo uninstaller. It solved my problem. Now I am experiencing not being able to open anything...to include email. The messages I get are: "this operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." The other message is: Unable to open this Internet Shortcut at the protocol 'http' does not have a registered program. I have a desk-top computer, all in one, Gateway One, Model # ZX6980, with Winsows 8, and 6 GB of ram. What went wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Answer
That sounds like Associations.

All skill levels arrive here and while Associations is a basic Windows knowledge area, did you try re association of HTTP/HTML? Here's how I do that move (because it involves more than one step, I'll share.)

1. Let Internet Explorer be your default browser for a moment.
2. Use the HTM/HTML association fix (Yes, it writes XP, but it's what I use for others) at:
DNS Server Error
3. Reboot, retest HTML links.
