Resolved Question

No OS DVD

Apr 23, 2014 10:57PM PDT

I purchased an ASUS G74Sx from BestBuy a few years ago or so. And they sure as hell don't like to give you the OS disc with your purchase. They just install and sell.

So I was just curious, do I need to purchase a new OS DVD in order to do a complete reset, or is there another way?

That you have decent new blank discs and/or flash drive if applicable to create "recovery discs" NOT restore discs, as this is a different result. Also, depending on the vendor creating true recovery discs *MAYBE* a 1-time event, so this is why I post here. In other words don't proceed until you're ready to do this.

FYI- Most OEM branded PCs tend to provide no recovery discs, like Dell, Gateway, Acer, etc., because that's a way to save $. However, if you a recent purchase, it wouldn't hurt to contact them and for a relatively small costs inquire about them supplying such as parts of their wares. Be 100% sure to post the SN# or tag# in order to get the right discs.
