No operating system

media edition 2005. have turned on lap top after a few months and am getting a message saying no operating system.Can anyone help?

And does the hard disk show in the BIOS?

Check if your BIOS is trying to load off of a hard drive without any operating systems on it. Make sure it checks for the right HD
