NO MORE PODCASTS!!!

by ron_r_08 / October 26, 2006 1:13 PM PDT

I read Maximum Pc and there was an article in their holiday issue on page 12 titled "UN to Podcasters: Shut Up!" I dont know if I am comprehending this information right but what I understand from it is that the UN is coming up with a treaty that would prevent mirroring podcasts, blog posts, youtube vidos or gootube, and other forms of streaming media online whether its copyrighted or not. The also emphesize that this could be then end of podcasts and not to get to attached to them and so forth. I was wondering if you knew anything on the subject or could pick up the issue and read the article and make sure im reading it right. I would hate to have no podcasts or streaming media. I just starting to listening to the buzz out loud podcast and dont want to give it up. I think that the UN should be focusing on the situation in Iraq and the situation in North Korea.

I imagine the article is referring to the broadcast treaty that WIPO was trying to apply to the Web. They ended up not applying the restrictions to the Web. The treaty was menat to prevent rebroadcast of a signal from one countries TV network by another one.

It is old news and it was about countries relaying other countries signals.

I could dig the old report out for you to read, but it would put you to sleep, and I would fall asleep just looking for it. Wink

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
