With the passing into oblivion of recordable optical media (I'm not dead yet) you see this feature vanishing.
But since we have many other choices of backup, I see this as redundant since we can record stuff in the OS and with fine apps like Toast.

We have been using iTunes and using the backup feature regularly so we didn't take a chance on losing our music. The latest update to iTunes has removed the backup feature. Any idea why they would do that? How are we supposed to backup iTunes now? The only thing I can think of is to copy the music files to why another drive. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to know why they would remove the backup feature. Thank you in advance for any answers you might have.
