No luck in Converting DVD files

Mar 5, 2010 11:22AM PST

I have made several attempts to convert VOB files using a couple of converting software to a file that would play on my DVD player.

I have used AVS Video Converter and converted to AVI, DVD, MPEG with no success.
I have also made similiar attempts with FreeVideoCnverter by Kyotesoft without success.

These files work OK on my PC but the disc will not play on my DVD.

Can someone please help me get this right as I want to burn a couple of DVD's for my 90yr old mother in law.
Thankyou
jonniek

Cant convert files

When I load my DVD player it comes up with unknown disc.

My previous posts provide information on the type of file and the attempts I have made to convert these files.

What additional information do you require ?

Perhaps my question should be

Why does my DVD player describe as "unknown disc" a dvd that I can play on my PC ???

I am guessing you burned video files as data files and...

not as a dvd disc. What burning program are you using? If you don't have a dvd creation program then try the one that I've recommended (they are freeware).

One other thing; did you finalize the burn disc? Computer can play none-finalize or data disc but standalone player cannot do.

can't copy DVD

ahtoi

Good point about finalizing......I am aware of that when using my DVD plaer but wasn't aware of a finalizing possibility with burning software on my PC...though I don't suspect that is the problem as I have been able to "copy"- burn discs and played them on my DVD player.

I downloaded your Burn software and copied/burnt my disc utilizing finalize disc and use buffer protection.

I am using DVD-RW to burn onto as I have previously been wasting too many discs.

This is the log of that burn.

5:51:07 PM Source device changed to: F: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B
5:51:07 PM Source device changed to: D: SONY DVD-ROM DDU1611
5:51:08 PM Target device changed to: F: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B
5:51:23 PM Disc copy started.
6:35:38 PM Successfully extracted ISO image.
6:35:49 PM Started burning the extracted image to disc
7:06:36 PM Copying disc was completed successfully.

However it will not play on my DVD Player/Recorder.
Same message unknown disc

Sorry to hear that.

I have no idea what the problem might be. My suggestion is to have a friend burn this project for you with their computer.
