Resolved Question

No internet access via ethernet and wireless

Jul 3, 2013 1:16AM PDT

So I'm having issues connecting to the internet. I can't connect wirelessly through the router and I can't connect if I plug my ethernet cord directly from the modem to my computer (right now I'm connecting using my phone to make a hotspot).

So obviously I'm having some issues, and this is happening with all devices in my house. The lights on the modem say the ethernet is working, and when plugged into the computer it gives Ethernet a green light, but no internet access. My main computer is an IMac.

BTW this all started two nights ago when the router was unplugged and then plugged into a different-but still working-socket. The ethernet cable was working, and I was trying to fix the wireless but then the ethernet stopped working as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

What modem?

Many lock onto the MAC address and require you power down the cable modem, move the Ethernet cable and then power up the modem.

Thank you for your help!
It seems my brother has fixed the problem, I don't know what he did though he may have had to reconfigure the modem but in any case the Internet is working. Thanks again!
