no indication of spybot (S&D) software available for windows

Aug 23, 2010 1:40PM PDT

Was looking for spybot search and destroy sotfware and site did not list Windows 7 home edition as one of the os systems. Does this mean I can't download spybot for my desktop?

we tend not to recommend Spybot Search 7 Destroy any more. With today's anti-virus scanners it seems to struggle.

This Page Shows Spybot As Being Supported In Win7
Aug 24, 2010 1:47AM PDT

Here's the link to their homepage. Look to the bottom of the page for supported operating systems:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/

But as mentioned by Mark above, it's not the best of tools available at the moment and since we're also seeing conflicts with other antivirus/antimalware scanners, we don't tend to recommend it as much as we did a few years ago.. Tools such as Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, and Emsisoft/A-Squared may be better tools. Still, it's your choice.

Hope this helps.

+1 to the Mod's comments.

Despite being good intentioned, it is only maintained by ONE person last I checked.

Noble but impossible task, for signatures let alone compatability.

Most A.V's include active anti-mal/spy functions now, something like an on-demand scanner like Malwarebytes would serve you better.
