Such can be a clue to the issues.
I recently made the mistake (?) of upgrading my Windows 98 Second edition (extremely stable)to Windows XP Professional.
I did this after I upgraded my computer to an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, an Intel P4 3.0 GHz processor, an Enermax 460 W power supply and 1024 of RAM. I run six hard drives with 375 Gig of storage attached to the motherboard with a Maxtor Ultra 133 PCI card.
The first time I just upgraded but this was causing problems - blue screens, reboot at any time, etc. Please note that I use Zone Alarm Pro, Ad Aware, Spyware Blaster, Starter and PC-cillin that updates regularly (I trashed Norton after I constanly found that the Pc cillin, on line free scan was finding viruses that Norton did not, even after I updated the definitions on a regular basis) I had done a virus scan BEFORE I upgraded and there were no Viruses. I run all these programs on almost a daily basis and allow all programs to update by themselves - and they do.
I did one after the upgrade and found I had 3 viruses. I then decided to do a complete install of Xp and trash the upgrade. I did another scan and found that there were 4 new viruses and one of them was attached to Win32help.exe (?). All viruses were deleted.
I have never had a Help and Support from the START button that worked after the upgrade. After the last 4 viruses I did a complete new install. (I'm getting tired of reinstalling all my software). I know I have no viruses and spyare, etc.
Can anyone help with this? Most of what I find on the web through Microsoft keeps telling me to use Help and Support and all the wizards . . . . that just aren't there!!!
