No DTS HD Audio Playback

Mar 29, 2009 1:54AM PDT

I have a BD-P2550 conected to a LN46A650 via HDMI 1.3 cable. I couldn't get DTS Master HD audio to work on the movie Transporter 3. The trailers and menus all had sound, but when the movie switched to 24hz and starting to play, there was no sound. I finally had to watch the movie in my PS3.

Also, why is there no support information or firmware updates on the Samsung site for the 2550, only the 2500?

Thanks =)

You don't mention what receiver you are using...THAT determines the sound field. Does it support DTS?

No Receiver

DVD player is connected directly to TV via HDMI. No receiver in the equation. My LN46A650 LCD processes DTS MA 5.1 as well as DD HD 5.1 via HDMI with no problems. TV doesn't seem to like 7.1 though. Maybe need a firmware update?

Maybe I shouldn't my TV processes 5.1. Not sure if that's the correct way of saying it. Perhaps the 2550 sends a downmixed audio signal that my TV accepts.

reonvx_rules,

I'm a little confused. How would you get either 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound without a receiver that would process and split those channels?

Hi HDTech,

If your confused, now I'm scared! =) I assumed if I set the 2550 HDMI mode to TV, it would downmix the audio to something my TV could use. The PS3 sends the 7.1 audio to my TV without a problem. Figured they would use a similar method.
