Are you sure it was 6 beeps, and not 3 sets of two beeps?
6 short beeps is a keyboard chip failure. You will need to replace the motherboard.
If it is 3 sets of 2 beeps, then you have some memory problem.
An OS install should not cause these problems. Actually, they will not. Things like these would occur with a faulty part, or if you discharged some static into the computer while installing a component; static is very bad and could very well fry the computer.
When I was installing windows xp on my desktop, it came up with the message cannot find hard drive disks. It then restarted, and the fan was really loud. The computer beeped 6 times and nothing would display on the monitor. Is there an easy way to fix this?
