Seems normal

Seems normal, since those referred to serial ports which haven't been a standard feature on computers for quite some time now, same as the parallel ports commonly used for printers, both of which were rendered redundant by USB. They don't show up in device manager because the physical hardware associated with those ports almost certainly doesn't exist on your system.

I believe there are still a few companies that sell some kind of serial port adapter that connects to a USB port, though it seems as though they are beyond the ability of a lot of people to install and get working correctly. If you have some legacy bit of hardware that uses a serial port, you'd probably be best off replacing it, but the second best option would probably be to go on craigslist or something, find someone in your area with an old Pentium 3 or 4 computer they want to offload for the price of coming and picking it up, and use your legacy hardware with that computer.

They may be turned off in there. Do you have any serial port like a DB 9 pin you can use?
