General discussion

no CD audio from WMP 10

Nov 26, 2005 4:48AM PST

My WMP10 player produces audio from every possible source from any media file -- but NOT from a CD. They used to play fine with the same player, but now they don't.

The CDs WILL play on Real Player, MusicMatch etc but NOT on WMP10, even though they used to.

I've gotten lots of information on other forums that either doesn't apply (as there's nothing wrong with my soundcard or speakers or speaker/mute settings) or simply didn't work (reinstalling WMP10, downloading codecs and decoders, even downloading other players just to ''get'' the right CD decoder.

Microsoft does NOT offer ANY free support for its Media Player.

Would appreciate any help from readers and posters here.

Is the CDROM wired to the sound card?

WMP might be playing the CD in analog mode.

Is it wired proper?

You'll want to check your sound card settings as well.
