No bluetooth support available in XP Media Center 2002 SP2

by rawsmackdown / May 12, 2006 11:37 PM PDT

Theres no BLUETOOTH PLACES icon available in my Control Panel. I searchd a lot and cudnt find any such thing in my pc. But MS site says bluetooth support has been made easier in SP2 versions. I hv a media center 2002 with SP2 prebundled with it. Help me ! AM struggling to install my bluetooth adapter. The IVT Corporation's Blue Soleil software gets stuck while installing the Bluetooth modem. I even tried the latest version from their site. No success.

Return the defective Bluetooth package and ...
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / May 12, 2006 11:55 PM PDT

Get one with a Widcomm stack/software. I don't have any with IVT's drivers.

As to if XP has or does not have such drivers will depend on the device. Microsoft bundles some but not all drivers for the wide variety of makers. If it didn't show up then you have a BT adapter that is not on the supported list.

Nothing wrong here, just another item not ready for the market.

Hey.. shouldnt the ''my bluetooth places '' icon b displayed in the control panel even if i havent installed any third party drivers ?? No such icon is displayed in my machine and Start->Run->bthprops.cpl doesnt display any window for me wich tells tat there isnt any inbuilt BT support available in my machine. The BlueSoleil software also gets stuck and never finishes the installation completely.
