No Auto login

Apr 28, 2010 1:16PM PDT

I have 2 systems workgrouped together.
System "A" runs Win 7 Pro(64 bit) and seems to "TechTrack" ok, except that when first installed, it wanted me to update programs that were long-time uninstalled. It seems to be ok now.
System "B" runs Win XP Pro(presumed 32 bit), and has some "quirks". It doesn't Auto-login like the "A" system, and when I manually login, it logs in as System "A" and I have to change systems. It also doesn't track MS Office 2003 products which are installed, but wants me to "upgrade" to trial versions of MS Office 2007 products.
I use Firefox on both systems. Both Firefox and IE-8 are kept updated, all 4 are set to remember passwords and forget cookies when the browser closes.

Any Suggestions?
Thanx

Hello,

I will leave it to others to help with the browser issue. I suspect it is related to the JavaScript/CSS login window not being tracked by Firefox as an autofill form.

As to your problem of having to manually switch machines every time you visit your TechTracker page. This is the current normal behavior for this site. This should improve along with many other features and new features in future updates.

Remember that the best way to get support is to use the support email page in out CNET customer help site. There is a link to it at the top of the software list on your TechTracker page.

Quick notes...
Apr 29, 2010 5:02AM PDT

1.) I agree with Forest that it's an issue with your browser detecting and filling the login form. TechTracker launches your default browser, but does not store your credentials, leaving that to your default browser. Check that those specific credentials are properly being stored by the browser and, if necessary, delete and re-add them.

2.) TechTracker does not distinguish between small and large updates, so it will see Office 2007 as an upgrade to Office 2003 regardless of your desire to keep Office 2003 and only install maintenance updates. However, since that's automatically handled by Microsoft Update (an update from Windows Update), you can safely disable tracking of Office 2003 through TechTracker.

Hope this helps,
John

The problem is that internet uses cookies to auto-login. so don't forget cookies (eat them)
