Resolved Question

No audio with HDMI connecting XBOX -> PC on TV

Aug 21, 2012 6:26PM PDT

I have plugged my XBOX 360 into my TV by means of an HDMI and as my TV lacks an HDMI port i have had to use the PC port. As a result there is no audio, is there a way to fix this?
Thankyou Happy

Audio ports available?

That TV PC port like a a PC's video port is only for "video". You still need to connect audio cables, most likely as I suspect are unused, or Y-cable them.

Well....you make sense of that: "into my TV by means of an HDMI and as my TV lacks an HDMI port"
But, i get the idea. I take it you used some adapter. -----Willy Happy

Magic box?

It appears you have DVI-audio connection thus get such a cable/adapter that is also supported on the other end. -OR- use the std. audio plug-ins. If you're already using those std. plug-ins, you get a splitter box or Y-cables in in order to connect.

Your problem isn't uncommon as various devices are attached and use up this or that. Which is why other TVs offer a slew of ports. That replication of ports can be done with a splitter box for TVs and that isn't always pretty. Google away for vendors, and pick one that offers more for future devices. Also, don't go crazy on "distance", that can make a difference in signal quality.

- What's the "PC port"? I assume it's only video, but you didn't tell.
- Does the TV have an audio input. I assume it doesn't but you didn't tell. If it doesn't, you can't use the TV speakers for sound, so you'll have to use other speakers.

Can you provide a link to the user manual of your TV?
