This is the message I see when clicking on the speaker icon. Red X with that message despite the RealTek is installed
Did you install the chipset for your machine?
Dafydd.
Did not install the chipset-have used PC since it came as purchased.
1. The driver. That would be at dell and found with your service tag.
2. The nondriver. Many Dells require Dell's Quickset.

Both are at Dell.
Tried to install program and it refused to load saying system not identified.
I take it you used your Service Tag to get the right drivers. When that fails, you are talking to Dell.
Was this the reset from
Within windows?
The factory restore media?
Some other type of reset?
Reset because of getting chronic windows errors "critical process died" and PC would restart on regular basis-one restart stated to use "reset" to fix problem. PC would not last for 24 hours without restart. Recommended to use this to reload new version of WIN10 into machine to stop error from happening. After reset this began and have been trying to get audio output reinstalled without any luck.
This suggestion may help and it certainly won't do any harm.
*Note: Before installing new drivers, double-check that your speakers are plugged into the audio jack(s) on the rear of the computer. It's also a good idea to check if the headphone jack is working. Sometimes a child, or pet, or housecleaner might accidently unplug something.
As suggested by other posters, go to Dell.com and click on Support. Enter your Service Tag number. The Service Tag tells Dell exactly what components/hardware your computer had when they sent it to you. You will be offered a list of things you can download such as Drivers and Software. Be sure you select Windows 10 as the operating system. Locate the latest Display/Graphics /Video drivers (it will be called one of those - not all three!) Download it. Also, while you're there, check if there's an Audio driver and download that, too. If there's more than one always choose the newest one.
Double-click on the downloaded graphics driver and install it. Follow the prompts (if any) to proceed with the install. When install is complete restart the computer. Check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio try installing the Audio driver, too.
