No audio on my Sony VAIO Media Center

I have a Sony VAIO Media Center desktop that I rarely use. When I attempted to use the Media Center to watch the news (local Cable channel) while online today I had no audio for my news program. The speakers are properly conected and work with normal computer use (i.e. online webcasts, etc.) Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
