No audio on DVDs

Jan 26, 2005 12:47PM PST

I have a Pioneer DV-C503 DVD player and now audio no longer plays on DVDs -- audio does play on CDs (this is a combo 5-disc unit). Do sound cables go bad over time? Anyone have advice on this? FYI, it is not the discs, as I have tried to play discs that I know played just a couple of months ago.
