No Audio from BD-P1500 Blu Ray Player!

Aug 15, 2008 11:58AM PDT

I was able to update the firmware via CD and it worked just fine last weekend.

Unfortunately tonight I have no audio from any Blu Ray disc I've tried or standard DVDs!

I have swapped HDMI cables and also changed the HDMI port on my TV the Blu Ray player is connected to. I know the current port its connected to works because my satellite box is usually connected there and I was just watching TV.

The player is not connected to a receiver or any surround sound set up so it's not my surround sound that's acting up.

I have not changed the audio settings and they're set this way:

Digital Output: PCM
PCM Down Sampling: On
Dynamic Compression: On

What's the problem here and how can I fix it?

Try the firmware again and let us know.

GMUHistorian,

Try to run the Firmware Update disc in there again. It sounds like the audio update portion didn?t fully install. Did it go through the complete cycle and turn off after the Firmware upgrade?

I did review your specs ? I would also turn your PCM DownSampling ON. I don?t see a reason to downsample through HDMI, although it?s a default setting in case you weren?t using HDMI to begin with.

Best,

Mr. Samsung

LN750 firmware upgrade via USB to ver 1012.2 loses surround
Dec 23, 2008 11:40AM PST

I upgraded the firmware in my LN750 to version 1012.2 dated 10/10/2008 and now my surround sound won't work. Only sterio works where I was able to get full surrond before. I have multiple devices, including a Samsung blueray DVD player hooked to my TVs HDMI inputs. I use an optical cable to connect the TV out to my receiver. Before the upgrade my receiver would get a full surround sound signal; now it only gets stereo. Any help out there for this?

Known problem
Dec 29, 2008 1:58AM PST

Unfortunately, the A750s don't pass the 5.1 audio they receive from the HDMI ports on to the optical port: they only pass the left and right channels, and strip out the LFE and surround channels.

This issue has been raised many times on the forums, and hopefully if enough customers express their desires, Samsung will issue a fix for this.

Hi: Don't know much about the problem written here, but I changed the audio output on the Samsung from PCM to stream, and it works ok now....

No idea what PCM means or what the two kinds of streaming are, but it worked. Thanks

It worked for me!

Hi - I bought Quantum of Solace on blueray this week (and it wouldn't get past the menu - was in an endless loop and wouldn't play) and was told by JB HIFi when I took it back to the store that a memo had been sent to them by Samsung explaining that customers had to upgrade their firmware to get it to play properly.

So I did. And I lost all Audio. And I took Mr Samsungs advice above and ran the firmware upgrade a 2nd time - and it worked - the audio is back!. (I have a BD-1500)
