General discussion

No audio at all

Had windows ME. just upgraded to Windows XP SP2
After installing I tried to run Windows Media Player 9
and other audio programs, but noting happens.

I have a Gateway computer Performance 800 with Boston speakers.

It's strange that I can export music cd to my iPod
but I get no sound from anyplce else.

Can you help?

Did you install the 815 chipset drivers from intel?
Get new audio drivers?

This is not a new system. May take a BIOS flash too.

You didn't give any info about what you did.
XP doesn't have all the drivers built-in.

...after you have installed the Win XP drivers for the MOBO, sound Card,etc., make sure that at "Sound and Audio Devices" at Control Panel, the appropriate device is selected and its properties edited properly. At least, go through the audio and voice tabs.
