360 WL controllers go for up to $50 for the unit and extra for the recharger. That's quite a hefty sum.
Deep dish pizza vs traditional hand tossed pizza... games could be argued to no end between the 2 platforms. I prefer Nintendo games, but will have to respect that some ppl think 360 games are better. However, at least wii games are either exclusive (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, pokemon, etc.) or unique (having a gyroscope+motion sensor controller for an interface is quite a different gaming experience as adding analog sticks to a traditional controller).
Many 360 games you mentioned like Madden, Tom Clancy, and much more are also available for PC. True, some would have to spend hundreds and hundreds of $$ to upgrade their PC, but being how the majority of ppl don't have HDTV, that point is moot. Halo 2 is slated to be released later this year for PC.
XB Live is certainly nice, but to assume that something paid for is better than free isn't always the truth. Not everyone is willing to pay $50/yr for global headphone functionality, rankings, player skill matching, IM chatting, etc. Just ask the many satisfied online PC and PS2 players out there. Dunno what wii has in store for OL play other than Nin saying it's included in their focus and will be a good experience. If it's anywhere as good as OL play for PC and PS2, then wii players have nthing to worry bout.
Then get the core system which is only gonna be like, what, $50 more than wii. The wii's games are probably going to be $50 anyways, and if it's better than the gamecube's (which started at $50 new), then chances are that the wii's games will be $50, maybe more.
not likely to go above $50 for wii games. From a development standpoint, for the most part, wii is just a GC with the Wiimote added to the interface. Devs have touted that the GC is pretty good to program for, unlike other systems like PS2 and n64 which were horrible in that regard.
360 and PS3 on the other hand. Once devs REALLY tap into those systems full potential and start rendering each blade of grass in a stadium or each pleat on some cheerleader's skirt in spectacular HD, speculation goes game can cost as much as $70 to $85.
Just thought you might think your tv remote could be a wii controller, and not go out and buy another controller.
I've heard some old dude try to load up windows XP on his son's 360. That wasted alot of Dell's tech support time
1) even if nintendo did what microsoft did, you'd still be able to play all the gcube games you own, unless you have games that are stupid games off of movies and tv shows meant for kids between ages 5-10. Either way you'd be able to play your gc games.
2) Who wants to play those old nintendo games anyways??? C'mon, that's why you're buying an xbox 360 or a nintendo wii, and not an NES or SNES or N64.
1)
?? Don't get what you're saying here with "if NIn did what M$ did...."
2)
You'd be VERY surprised at what ppl play STILL these days. Some of the old school Atari classics like Centipede, Joust, and those 16 color Atari 2600 games are still popular b/c they just had spot-on gameplay. Similar to how some ppl still watch old movies like Gone With The Wind or Star Wars ep#4-6. Tetris, PacMan, and Doom (the first one) are still played all around. Doom 2 was selling real well even in the mid 90s at retailers like EB (when it was still Electronics Boutique and not EB Games). People still whip out their NES and SNES b/c again, those games were "spot-on" in gameplay, graphics, and/or fun factor.
It just ain't with Nintendo users. One must appreciate the irony how some ppl get the powerful PSP with near PS2 graphics and end up playing alot of emulators instead like GBA and Genesis.
And then there's the 360. I've seen some of the features of the 360 at a friend's house. You ask "Who wants to play those old nintendo games anyways???". Well, let me ask...
-who really wants to DL movie clips onto their already too small 360 hardrive? Any low-end PC can DL movie trailers
-who really wants to play games from Xbox Arcade with polygons flying around a field?
In this regard, the 360 is every bit as guilty as the wii if you put it like that
