Nikon D70

Aug 31, 2004 1:38PM PDT

I was curious as to the backward compatibility for older nikon lenses when it comes to the D70. I currently have a Nikon EM with quite a few lenses and was curious as to whether any of them would work with this new SLR. thanks

The catch here is I don't really know much about cameras in general and all the info at the bottom of that page makes no sense me. I aquired the camera not too long ago and was thinking/hopeing to upgrade to a digital SLR. Again the camera I have is a Nikon EM and was curious as to whether all the lenses i have for it will fit on the D70 Thanks again

Up until 1979, Nikon only made professional cameras.
Meaning; professional photographers.
They were priced far above the average consumer's pocket book.

The Nikon EM was introduced in 1979 as their first "consumer" camera. Meaning; smaller size, lighter weight, electronics and lower cost.

They introduced a series of high quality lenses just for the EM.

The lenses you have are probably called Series-E.

Look at the front on the lens and you may find:
NIKON LENS SERIES E

This series of lenses are not compatible with the D70.
