The 70-300 has a faster focusing motor and better build. Not much is out there for optical quality for the 55-300mm, because it was just recently released, but people have been extremely pleased with the output.
I bought the Nikon D5000 about 6 months ago with the kit lens. I now am looking to expand and I really want a zoom lens. I am not looking to spend any more than $500. I am now trying to decide between two lens: the Nikon 55-300mm and the Nikon 70-300mm. I just need to know what the major difference is. I know the 55-300mm is newer so there are not many reviews yet and it costs about $380. The 70-300 costs about $530. I am just not sure the 70-300 is worth the extra $$.
Can someone please tell me if I will be unsatisfied with the 55-300mm?
And is the 70-300mm worth the extra money?
Thank you all!
