Has been staggering. Almost as soon as you buy a camera, it becomes outdated.
They get faster with better and better resolution. They have more features too!
You might want to consider looking at the cameras that are writing the forefront of technology.

I currently am using a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and have been extremely pleased with the ease of use, features and the photographic results. I was considering getting a Coolpix 8800 which is an 8 megapixel camera and also has image stabilization but find it has been discontinued. That fact doesn't bother me but I have been unable to locate one through the normal eBay and camera store avenues. The Coolpix 8700 IS available but, of course, it does not have the IS feature. I would like to know if Nikon had any great trouble with the 8800 causing them to discontinue it or if Nikon had other reasons.
