Nextel has always had a poor service record and reception area. Unless you're within a few miles of a highway or interstate don't expect to get more than 2 bars. The cell phones themselves are of a poor quality and don't last long compared to other phones which seem somewhat more flimsy (i.e. the Motorola Razr). The customer service has only gotten worse since Sprint obtained Nextel as well. Expect a 45 minute wait the next time you go for something at a Sprint-Nextel store.
I have several areas with no service or choppy calls
and dropped calls. The Motorola i560 quit working in
the first month of service and I was charged $35 to get
a reconditioned one. The replacement has a loose hinge.
They offered to upgrade the phone but would not waive
the $200 cancelation fee. How does a new phone give better coverage? I strongly recommend another service.
