Newegg th-50ph10uk Deal...To good to be true ???

by djtemp / November 9, 2007 8:05 AM PST

I was thinking about getting panasonic pro plasma from new-egg. I hear great things about the set and they are selling it for a very good price. I don't care, for the time being, about 1080p and I have a surround sound system so tv audio isn't important. Nor do I care, either way, about a stand. As I'm going back to newegg to check out the price, I see virtually the same plasma, plus a wall mount, for $200 less. The newegg customer service people confirmed the set was not refurbished or used but couldn't tell me why the almost identical set was $200 less and came with a stand. The input specs looks slightly different as does the formatting of the pages for the sets, but they look like they are the same set. Can anyone tell me if there is something I am missing.

One last thing, I was also considering a power conditioner. Are these really worth it. Is it worth it to step up to one that filters power and regulates power. I was looking at this one on newegg for $350.

Power conditioners have been the subject of much argument
by NM_Bill / November 10, 2007 2:26 AM PST

here. Some very educated in electricity/electronics stay firm that they have no value. My eyes & ears told me different. I have another brand of approximately same price & immediately saw A-B comparison difference.

Without it I was disappointed in the picture with fuzzy interference type stuff I was getting with the new big screen & new A/V. My fuzziness/interference went away. A black & white difference to me.

Our moderator (a heavyweight expert) stated in his post that power conditiiooner help is a sometime thing.

Not currently in the market, I have noticed some very tempting price drops recently. Be advised that because of the sub prime mortgage fiasco hitting the economy so hard - early seasonal sales are being reported as it's going to be a bad retailing year. So, some sellers are doing the early price cut for attention. That makes for good values for us. So, the cheaper model looks quite good to me.

NM, thanks for the help. I'm aware of the sub prime fall out and the early price drops and I could understand if one dealer started their sales earlier than other dealers. I just don't get why the same dealer, newegg, would be selling the ph10uk which lists for ~2k for 1599 and also selling what looks to be the same ph10uk bundled with a wall mount for 1399.

As much as that seems like a no brainer, my brain is telling me something doesn't add up. I could maybe see them giving away the wall mount because it's dead inventory but to give them away and sell the set for $200 less than the same set they are selling without the bundled wall mount is really strange.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
