Newbies !!

I would really like to learn about computers, how to upgrade hardware, or build one,where would I go to start? I am very intrested in all of it. Thank You !!!!
P.S I am a grandma, but I'm sharp!!!!

Thank You!! VAPCMD, Have a Hp pavillion XL775 and I have all the specs on it, I'm researching and getting all my ducks in a row first, I do appriciate all the info, and I'm on my way !!!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
