newbi needs advice

hey guys im about to compile a media center like pc and get it built i have a budget of 1200 bucks or so, iv scouted out a tv tuner and ram (1 gb ddr 400)but sketchy on the mainboard and disk drives. iv got my old old 40gb drives but iv seen this sata and sata ll was guna get a 250 giga sata but wasnt sure if the old ide ones will link up?well enyway what im looking at so far is a 939 asus a8n-vm-csm media center type board with a amd 3200+ cpu,altho im hearing good reviews about the asus sli gamer/proformance boards i dont know if they have the stababilty and media output i need as that will be its main function ( i aint into games like doom and such just RTS). which ever way i go therell b a 256mb graphics card, was going along the lines of a 7600 gs or better (but if der is sumtin that would fit in better plz tell hay). all this will hopefully run of my widescreen tv ( nah it aint a lcd nor a plasma Sad ). so yeah basically can u guys just gimmi the low down on the stuff i just said ^^ wether good or bad and ah help a newbi out so he dont get ripped off lol thx dudes
