Congrats. You will definitely enjoy the whole shebang
.
I can think of two options to connect the DirecTV box to your other components. A little trial and error is never a bad thing, especially when trying to optimize both video & audio quality. I'm not a huge fan of running the HDMI from the cable or sat box to the HTIB receiver then back out again to the HDTV, but it can be done, and means you only have to deal with one type of cable.
Option #1 (least amount of wires)
DirecTV (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) LG LHB 977
LG LHB 977 (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Panasonic TC-P42G10
Option #2 (possibly providing better video quality from sat box)
DirecTV (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Panasonic TC-P42G10
DirecTV (digital optical out) -> (digital optical in) LG LHB 977
LG LHB 977 (HDMI out) -> (HDMI in) Panasonic TC-P42G10
Let me know how it works. Just warning you I know zilch about the LG HTIB products
. I'm just using logic based on how I would connect other brands that make HTIB systems, like Onkyo, Denon & Sony.

I'm the last human to finally go HDTV (or so it feels). I want to get the best possible connection(s) for my equipment. Here's what I've got:
Panasonic TC-P42G10 (TV)
LG LHB 977 (HTIB)
Directv HR23 (Will arrive Saturday)
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Right now I've just got things kind of rigged since my DVR and HD package isn't rolling yet.
I think the TV only has HDMI inputs (3) but has an optical digital audio out. The LG unit has two HDMI inputs and one out. Since I don't have the HR23 yet, I have no idea about it.
Please answer as if I'm a moron (which I am).
