New Video Card Only At 2x AGP

Dec 23, 2003 3:50AM PST

i have fitted an 128mb fx5200 card to a friends system.the motherboard is a pcchips M810 - the bios is not user friendly.I only have 2 options for video - onboard agp and pci.The card shows up ok in device manager and all the specs can be seen in AIDA32 and sisoft sandra. But the card only shows as 2x agp in advanced settings.Anyone familiar with card or had similar problems - advice appreciated

Some info on the mobo says it supports up to 4x.

I think if you root around in the bios maybe under chip set config or some such you'll find agp 1x-2x-4x.

Don't be surprised when you run a benchmark at 2x and then at 4x you don't see much of a diff if any.

I'm with Bob B on this one. The board probably only supports 2X AGP, and to be perfectly honest the whole AGP speed is largely a marketing gimmick at this point. There's barely a system on the market that could theoretically max out the limits of even a 1X AGP card.

Thanks - it appears this motherboard is incompatible with lots of video cards.Having it AGP at 2X is ok but the screen just goes off on its own (like its been unplugged) even though the pc is still on.I have to restart the pc and then it will come again - well until it goes off again - this mobo is a dog
