New video card (8800GS)-Vista Loading Bar Graphical glitch

by shanesnh / June 29, 2008 1:43 PM PDT

Hello there. I recently upgraded my PC with an XFX nvidia GeForce 8800GS and a new Samsung SyncMaster 226CW. I installed the card and got the latest driver. (I dont have the SyncMaster driver installed anymore since it messes up the color scheme and makes everything too dark) Anyways, all my games work great (Call Of Duty 4, UT3, Crysis, etc.) There is just one small graphical glitch pertaining to the Vista Loading Bar. Before, when i had my older 7600GS card, the Vista Loading bar was smooth as it should be. Now with the new card, the loading bar has little back dots and darker lines trailing it. Ive tried uninstalling the driver, updating it, etc. I have a few screenshots of it on Photobucket if you would like to see them. I would really like this fixed since it is a bit of an annoyance. Thank you guys in advance Happy

Looks normal to me...

The default progress bar displays a darkened region at either end, almost as it is were smudged with soot, and a darker horizontal line from end to end as the 'light' travels the length repeatedly. I didn't notice anything else in the screenshots, so it all looks normal to me. Perhaps your old graphics card and monitor just didn't display it quite as distinctly as your new one?

Actually... The black dots and uneven lines...

Well if you look at the close up shots of only the bar, you can see random back dots and uneven dark lines in front and behind the "White bright line". Ive looked at numerous other Vista computers I own and they are all fine. I have noticed that its hard to see the glitch if the pictures are "highlighted" or "selected" on my PC. But I do know what you mean by the smudges. But its not as it should display it. There are black dots that appear and disappear when the "White line" sweeps by (As well as the dark uneven lines that trail behind it).

Also... The screenshots do not show the glitch to its full extent. When I see it in person, the trailing dark uneven lines have small bumps on them which is not normal.

I just noticed that when i change the color scheme on my monitor, the dots and lines change places. So I guess the problem lies with the color set of the monitor. Any suggestions?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
